Mobile app developer Vidatec’s parent company confirmed as one of the UK’s fastest growing international businesses
PRESS RELEASE
25 February 2020: The parent company of Vidatec, the mobile app and web development company behind the popular Couch to 5K app, has been included in this year’s Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200.
The Insights Group, who acquired Vidatec – formerly known as Dogfish Mobile – in 2017, came in at number 141 on the list published on Sunday.
The Group achieved turnover of £68.9M, an increase of 29% on the previous year (2018: £53.5M) and operating profit of £14.4M, an increase of 47% on the previous year (2018: £9.8M). Growth, in terms of revenue, was more than double the industry standard growth rate of around 11% YoY.
The list ranks Britain’s mid-market private companies with the fastest growing international sales, measured over their latest two years of available accounts. The list is compiled by Fast Track and published annually in The Sunday Times.
Vidatec Chief Executive Greig Johnston said: “We’re proud to be part of The Insights Group and contribute towards the overall business growth achieved. Ranking in The Sunday Times HSBC International Fast Track 200 this year is a great way to recognise the progress and results delivered so far as a Group.
“I’m really inspired to continue to work together to find new ways to build our business and invest into new products and solutions to enter new markets. Vidatec continues to expand its client base by challenging the status quo with our bold design and development, insight and best practice, with the main aim to help improve people’s experience of life.”
It is estimated that one in 12 people currently use a Vidatec app. In addition to working with Public Health England and the BBC to develop the Couch to 5K, the company has also developed apps for Ryvita, Value Retail, Crystal Ski, Travelopia, SAGA and the British Army.
